How I Work
Human Judgment. AI Leverage. For Solid Results.
Yes, I use AI. But I make the strategy calls. Every engagement runs on a human-in-the-loop model: AI for research and operational work, deterministic scoring to measure what matters, and me designing the strategy, conducting the assessments, and making the decisions. See below for how that works in practice.
What is a human-in-the-loop marketing system?
AI is fantastic. But it has its limitations and needs true supervision. That's why I use a human-in-the-loop marketing system with AI for the work AI is good at, but a human to make the calls that matter. AI agents handle research, analysis, and drafts. Deterministic tools fetch data and score results the same way every time. I, as the senior marketer, define the process, review the analysis and findings, and make the judgment calls, approving everything before it ships.
AI agents, for judgment-shaped work at scale.
Research, classification, analysis, first drafts. Agents do in hours what used to take a team weeks. But agents propose; they don't decide.
Deterministic tools, for the numbers.
Data fetching, scoring, and measurement run as plain, repeatable code. Data gets measured the same way every time, not based on vibes from a chatbot.
Me, at the checkpoints that matter.
I design the strategy, review what the systems find, and make the decisions. Nothing reaches you, and nothing publishes, without my analysis and judgment.
The system in action
Following is the actual architecture of the assessment system I run on every prospective client.
- AI agent
- Deterministic module
- Human checkpoint
- Intake agent classifies your businessAI agent
- Classification review: I confirm the system understood youHuman checkpoint
- Four analysis modules run: technical audit, blog audit, SEO, competitiveDeterministic module
- Findings review: I interrogate the results with a conversational agent, applying my own judgmentHuman checkpoint
- Synthesis agent drafts the graded report and prioritized plan, taking into account my feedbackAI agent
- I conduct a final review before it goes to youHuman checkpoint
Agents where judgment scales. Deterministic code where consistency matters. Me at every point where being wrong would cost you.
Why this matters to you
Speed without slop.
You get team-scale output from one senior operator. None of it is unreviewed AI output. AI slop is easy to spot and buyers are already tuning it out.
Judgment where it counts.
Knowing when NOT to use AI is the skill. Strategy, positioning, and anything customer-facing gets human thinking. Data collection and scoring get code. Drafts get AI but are always edited and revised.
Systems you keep.
As an AI operator, I know how to leverage AI for your marketing systems. When I build your marketing engine, I'm building processes and tooling your team can run after I'm gone, not a dependency on me.
I've run marketing at enterprise scale: web strategy at Seismic (1,500+ pages, 165% organic growth), content and growth at OneLogin ($7M+ pipeline), fractional CMO for BlackPoint IT (300% opportunity growth). I know how to build: the assessment system above, the outreach tooling I use, and this website itself are things I made. That combination of strategy experience plus the ability to build the systems that execute it is what you're hiring.
Frequently asked questions
Will AI write my content?
AI can be used for research and collaborative thinking. It can even be used for drafts, but it doesn't publish and every draft needs to be reviewed and likely revised. Anything with your name or brand on it goes out only after I've edited and approved it, and plenty of high-stakes work I write myself.
Why not just hire an agency that uses AI tools?
Everyone has the tools now. Tools don't guarantee quality. The difference is architecture and judgment: knowing which work belongs to agents, which belongs to deterministic code, and which decisions should never leave a human. I've built these systems from scratch; most agencies bolted a chatbot onto their old process.
Is my data safe?
Your data is used to do your work, period. It isn't used to train models. Access to things like Search Console or GA4 stays scoped to the engagement.
Can you set up systems like this for my team?
Yes. That's often what the retainer and fractional engagements become. I build your marketing engine so it runs with your people on my systems, requiring just a fraction of my time.
